Install the desktop app
RingMentor runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11. macOS is on the roadmap (not yet).
Download
You have two ways to get the installer:
- From your welcome email. The email your manager triggered when they added you includes a download link.
- From the portal. Sign in at portal.ringmentor.com, then click Install App in the left sidebar. You’ll see a Download for Windows (.exe) button.
Most people want the .exe. If your IT team manages installs through Group Policy, SCCM, or Intune, there’s also an MSI download on the same page.
Install
- Double-click the downloaded
.exefile. - Windows may show a SmartScreen warning on first install because the app’s code-signing reputation is still building. Click More info → Run anyway. This goes away over time as Microsoft’s reputation system catches up.
- Follow the installer prompts. The default install location is fine.
- When setup finishes, RingMentor launches automatically.
Pair your device with a claim token
The first time RingMentor opens, it asks for a claim token. Your manager sent you one (it’s in your welcome email, and they can also hand it to you directly). It’s a long one-time secret that starts with rm_claim_.
- Paste the token into the field.
- Click Activate this device.
- The app confirms your name and organization. Done.
You won’t see this screen again. The app stays paired to this machine.
Token not working? Claim tokens are one-time-use and expire 30 days after they’re issued. If yours was already used, has expired, or your manager revoked it, ask them to Reissue one. You only need a token to pair a machine the first time; once you’re paired, you don’t need it again.
Verify audio permissions
The first time RingMentor captures audio, Windows may prompt you to allow microphone access.
- Click Allow on the prompt.
- If you miss it: Windows Settings → Privacy → Microphone → find RingMentor in the list → toggle it on.
You’re ready. See Your first call.
